Your new company
On behalf of our client, Hays Property & Surveying are currently recruiting for a Programme Manager for a contract role overseeing a broad range of capital projects ranging from £500,000 - £100m. Our client is a public sector organization and requires assistant leading a programme of estate / construction projects, therefore needing to take on additional resources to meet their needs. The projects will range from simple internal refurbishment to working on fit out and new development projects. This is a long term contract position, which will likely last 18 months.

Your new role
As the Programme Manager, you will be responsible for the full life cycle of your portfolio of projects, from design and inception through to completion and handover. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the Programme structure to support each individual work stream. You will act as a key point of contact in all stakeholder management, producing business cases, appointing consultants, contractors and delivery teams. Each Programme Manager will oversee a group of projects which will range in value as mentioned above, up to £100m+. You will establish the goals of each project in terms of timeline, budget and business cases; demonstrate leadership and direction for the overall project; procurement strategy; selecting your project manager and design team; stakeholder engagement; technical guidance; reporting and monitoring and overseeing technical reviews. On top of this, you will be overseeing a group of Senior Project Manager's, encouraging them to take ownership of their projects while offering advice and guidance when required.

What you'll need to succeed

As the successful candidate, you will have 10+ years of experience managing construction projects, refurbishments and estate redevelopment in complex environments. You must have experience in the procurement of major infrastructure projects which will include development of business cases and feasibility. You will have demonstrated experience of delivering infrastructure projects from inception through to final handover (that experience could be gained on different projects i.e. feasibility on one project, construction on another project). You will have a relevant qualification in programme management such as MSP, Prince2, Agile and an ongoing commitment to professional development in your area of specialism.
