Head of Operations and Supply Chain Midlands based - This is a permanent role but fixed term contractors will be considered with a long term view of moving into a permanent position. Working as the Head of Operations and Supply Chain, you will play a vital role in driving forward this hi-tech organisation, helping them to meet their ambitious growth objectives. After achieving significant year on year growth, this role will give the right candidate a chance to implement a range of expansion and improvement initiatives working closely with the CEO as part of the Senior Management to turn ideas into reality. The company currently has a number of sites in the UK. You will take ownership of the logistics facility managing a small team and taking responsibility for all operational, supply chain and logistics matters. This is an SME business operation on a growing global scale where the customer is truly at the forefront of all technology that is created. A key area of the role will be supplier selection and screening as the company outsource all of their manufacturing. One of the major projects you will be in charge of is optimising the supply chain process, including evaluating the suitability of all aspects of the existing facilities and operations to support the company's growth. Some of the core responsibilities of the role will include: - Establishing a vendor selection strategy and taking control of all negotiations for supply contracts. - Working closely with the R&D team to help establish the best suppliers to meet exacting industry standards, whilst developing relationships with outsourced manufacturers. - Overseeing the warehouse function and going forward, implementing an efficient and cost effective inventory management system. - Develop robust supply chain KPIs and then monitoring and overseeing these. This is a brand new role within the business and the timing is now right for a candidate who wants to make a real difference and get to see and implement changes which will make a significant impact long term. Senior management within the business have an open door policy and you will need to be able to present and influence at board level. Character fit will be vital as, although the potential for the role is huge, it is still a relatively small company where there really is nowhere to hide. An important aspect will be taking ownership of areas where previously you may have been able to delegate. Some of the key areas of experience we are looking for include: - A proven operations and supply chain management background working within a regulated industry. This may be automotive, aerospace or life sciences. - A strong track record of outsourcing supply chain ideally on an international level with a passion for quality throughout the process. - Experience of helping small to medium businesses meet their growth objectives. - Track record of taking new products from development through the regulatory pathway into manufacturing and the supply chain. - Project management experience. - A strong ability to efficiently and effectively implement change. - A six sigma background would be beneficial.
