Head of Finance £45-65k plus car/car allowance and performance related bonus. Working alongside the business's MD, the Head of Finance will be hands-on with Group finances but will also be commercially aware, able to support and advise various stakeholders within the Group of companies. The role of the Head of Finance has overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of company strategy and is expected to analyse figures and report observations and highlight issues and challenges to the MD and various stakeholders. Although your focus will be on commercial, strategic and analytical finance activities, you will provide appropriate support to the Company Accountant who manages and leads the finance team through month end, year end and annual budgeting. In periods of change and growth the Head of Finance will coordinate change with the MD and advise on capital requirements, debt, taxation and acquisitions as appropriate. Duties and responsibilities Form a close working relationship with the Managing Director and other Senior Managers. Provide leadership to the Groups Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the company's financial performance and strategic position. Provide support to the Company Accountant to take overall control of the company's accounting function and production of detailed management accounts for each division within the Group. Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers. Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth. Ensure annual budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed. Analysing monthly accounts, reporting observations and making recommendations. Reviewing the pricing structure, identifying strengths and weaknesses and making recommendations. Analysing profitability by customer and job type. Evaluating financial aspects of new products, customers and sites. Providing commentary where appropriate to the board. The successful candidate will be a confident self-starter with the ability and eagerness to adapt to the changing needs of the business. You must have an analytical mind and show evidence of being involved in strategic planning. You will also be people-orientated with the desire to shape a first-class finance team and promote an environment of development and progression. The Head of Finance needs excellent communication skills with all levels of staff, often having to work with various departments.
