Reporting to: Senior Legal Project Manager Purpose of job: Supporting partners and lawyers in the management of matters using project management to manage legal activities and costs, the role will include the management of schedules, delivery risks and stakeholders to ensure that client needs are met, while maximising the performance of matters for the firm. The candidate will also work closely with lawyers globally to assist in the delivery of cost-effective legal services to a variety of clients in wide range of industries. Key responsibilities: Train and support staff to ensure deep understanding of the principles of project management and how they apply to the management of legal matters Utilise the firm's matter pricing and reporting dashboards to ensure all matters are supported with effective financial management data Lead multiple legal matters in conjunction with legal teams As required, support or lead the management of the team activities and track actions and progress of activities Ensure good financial management of legal matters including reviewing work in progress, managing disbursements / external costs, regular (e.g. monthly) reporting to clients and associated billing, scope management Manage key matter stakeholders, e.g. clients and other counsel and other parties to the matter Participate in the creation and implementation of technology tools to support legal project management Experience and knowledge A minimum of 2 years' experience leading projects in the legal, consulting or other professional service sectors Experience in budgeting and planning Experience in dealing with senior stakeholders Skills and competencies Change management experience Legal project or matter management experience with an understanding of all stages in a matter lifecycle A high degree of professionalism and interpersonal skills Attention to detail and exemplary literacy and numeracy skills A project management qualification is desirable but not essential Experience of practice management systems within professional services organisations is desirable Experience in Microsoft Office especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
