Main purpose of job: The Head of Data Analysis is an important role within the BCA Decision Intelligence leadership team. They are responsible for managing a broad team of data analysts from across the BCA group. They work with the leadership team to agree priorities for analysis. Examples of their work would include: Create aggregated view of Decision Intelligence requirements using inputs from all data analysts, incorporating priorities of each department and consolidating Work with the Head of Data Collation and Head of Data Products to align all data activities across BCA Group They are supported by the central Data Collation and Data Products teams. The Data Collation team is responsible for building a consistent and well-structured data asset across the group (single version of the truth). The Data Products team are responsible for creating compelling data products for internal and external customers. These are designed to be built once and used across the group. Main Responsibilities: Day to day management of the team of data analysts including: Agreeing fortnightly objectives with data analysts Reviewing the output of data analysts and making recommendations for how to improve Complete appraisals for the team every 6 months with agreed objectives and opportunities for improvement Identifying training opportunities for the team and appropriate funding opportunities Maintain overall list of data objectives from each business area and identify how to prioritise to best accommodate all business areas. Oversee use of data by data analysts to confirm that it follows BCA regulations, in particular disclosure of financially sensitive information to external parties. Build good working relationship with key stake-holders in each business division and understand their key business objectives, ensure that these are being met by the data analyst responsible. Work with the data analysts to develop a common look and feel for all analysis produced by BCA Group, using the latest brand templates and ways of presenting data. Proactive identification of new opportunities to leverage data for business advantage across BCA Group. Identify common requirements across different departments that can be serviced by a single data product, avoiding duplication of work by the data products team. Support in the identification of data quality issues in the BCA data warehouse to help drive use of accurate information by all business functions across BCA. Creation of an active BCA Data Analyst community, sharing ideas and best practices. Support the drive towards data definition standardisation and higher organisational data quality & consistency. Evangelist for the BCA data analytics approach within data analyst team (business issue identification, hypothesis definition, data extraction, analytics, reporting and implementation). Skills and expertise Extensive experience of managing a team of data analysts, ideally where the analysts are in different geographical locations and / or different business functions. Advanced experience in best practices of presenting data to stakeholders. Knowledge of standard data reporting and science tools such as Business Objects / QlikView / R and how these can be used to drive business benefits. Knowledge of SQL and experience of using SQL Advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint to report data to stakeholders Working Hours Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm Working for BCA We have been bringing together buyers and sellers for nearly 70 years.
